Software Engineer, Platform

About the role

This fully remote position is for a Platform Software Engineer based in Ireland. You will build the backend infrastructure that powers products used by millions worldwide, focusing on authentication, payments, subscriptions, analytics, and text‑to‑speech services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend APIs for core platform capabilities such as authentication, payments, subscriptions, analytics, consumption tracking, and text‑to‑speech.
• Build and optimise reliable backend systems with a strong emphasis on scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Manage and improve the overall backend API ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration across internal services and external developer APIs.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align backend architecture with product strategy, customer needs, and user experience goals.
• Develop enterprise‑ready backend solutions and integrations to support B2B customers and custom implementations.
• Contribute to architectural discussions, technical planning, and continuous platform improvements.
• Identify and prioritise engineering initiatives that maximise business impact while maintaining high software quality standards.

Required profile

• Proven professional experience in backend software development using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Strong experience designing and building scalable RESTful APIs and distributed backend systems.
• Hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP); familiarity with AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers is a plus.
• Solid understanding of backend architecture, scalability, performance optimisation, and secure application development.
• Ability to balance rapid execution with thoughtful technical decision‑making in fast‑paced environments.
• Experience collaborating with cross‑functional engineering and product teams.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in fully remote, asynchronous environments.
