Staff Backend Engineer - Core Product

About the role

This senior position is focused on building and scaling the backend infrastructure that powers AI‑driven decision‑making workflows for a high‑impact product. You will work with a globally distributed engineering team to create reliable, high‑throughput services that handle fragmented, high‑value data sets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend systems, services and APIs supporting core product functionality.
• Build robust data pipelines, workflows and infrastructure to improve data quality and operational performance.
• Contribute to architecture decisions with emphasis on reliability, scalability and maintainability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate complex business and technical requirements into production‑ready solutions.
• Develop and optimise asynchronous, cloud‑native backend services in distributed environments.
• Improve observability, debugging, testing and monitoring across backend systems.
• Drive experimentation, iteration and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices and a culture of ownership.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend and distributed systems expertise.
• Proven ability to design scalable APIs and backend architectures in cloud environments.
• Experience delivering high‑quality production code with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
