Staff Nurse – Acute Surgical Assessment (Newly Qualified)

About the role

We are seeking motivated and compassionate Registered Nurses to join the Acute Surgical Assessment team on Ward 5C within the Surgical Directorate. This busy, fast‑paced ward receives direct admissions across a range of surgical specialties, offering an excellent environment for newly qualified nurses to develop their clinical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and admit patients from a variety of surgical specialties, including General Surgery, Colorectal, Upper GI and Urology.
• Provide safe, person‑centred care while supporting the multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives and ward development projects.
• Develop triage and shift‑coordination skills through hands‑on experience.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification, eligible to practice in the UK.
• Strong clinical and communication abilities.
• Adaptable, confident in an ever‑changing acute setting.
• Commitment to fostering a positive team culture and delivering compassionate care.
