Staff Nurse – Children’s Ward (Permanent, Full‑time)

About the role

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a qualified Staff Nurse to join the Children’s Ward at Sligo University Hospital. This permanent, full‑time position is open to both HSE and non‑HSE applicants and offers the chance to deliver high‑quality nursing care to paediatric patients in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to children and young people admitted to the ward.
• Conduct patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and respond to changes in condition.
• Administer medications, including IV therapy, and ensure accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with doctors, allied health professionals, and families to develop and implement care plans.
• Maintain a safe and clean clinical environment in line with infection‑control policies.
• Utilise electronic health record systems to record observations and interventions.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
• Current registration and eligibility to practice in Ireland.
• Experience or strong interest in paediatric nursing.
• Commitment to full‑time, permanent employment within the HSE West and North West region.
