Staff Nurse – Medicine for the Elderly

About the role

The Medicine for the Elderly team at Raigmore Hospital is seeking a Staff Nurse to join Ward 2C. You will provide person‑centred care to 30 patients with complex medical needs, including delirium, dementia, Parkinson’s disease and palliative care requirements. The role operates on a 12‑hour rotational shift pattern and offers opportunities for professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality nursing care to patients with frailty, cognitive impairment and multiple long‑term conditions.
• Support patients with dementia, Parkinson’s disease and end‑of‑life care, ensuring compassionate and evidence‑based practice.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans.
• Administer medication, monitor vital signs, and perform routine clinical assessments.
• Provide specialist support such as wound care and IV therapy as required.
• Participate in ongoing learning and development activities coordinated by the Senior Charge Nurse.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, proactive and team‑focused with strong communication skills.
• Genuine interest in caring for patients with complex medical and cognitive needs.
• Qualified nurse (or due to qualify by September 2026) eligible to work in the UK.
• Willingness to work 12‑hour rotational shifts.
