Staff Nurse – Mental Health (Bank)

About the role

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking qualified Staff Nurses to join its Mental Health Staff Bank across the South East region of Ireland. This role provides flexible, as‑needed staffing support to mental health services in Carlow, Kilkenny, South Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford. Both HSE and non‑HSE applicants are welcome to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred nursing care to adults with mental health needs.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing interventions in accordance with clinical guidelines.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with HSE policies.
• Participate in on‑call and shift work as required by the staff bank schedule.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a valid registration in Ireland.
• Experience in adult mental health nursing preferred.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland.
• Flexibility to commence employment within 60 days of a formal offer.

Required skills

• Competence in mental health assessment and care planning.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
