Staff Nurse – Pre‑Assessment Clinic (Dublin)

About the role

The Staff Nurse will join the Pre‑Assessment Clinic at UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic in Dublin, providing comprehensive nursing care to patients awaiting elective surgery. This 12‑month fixed‑term role involves assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct full patient assessments and develop individual care plans in the pre‑assessment setting.
• Perform clinical procedures independently, including phlebotomy, venipuncture, ECG recording and vital sign monitoring.
• Assist consultants with side‑room procedures and support the wound clinic.
• Coordinate with Patient Services to ensure all elective surgery candidates are screened and documented.
• Liaise with GPs and anaesthetic staff to manage patients unfit for surgery.
• Maintain equipment, stock and documentation, and supervise care assistants.

Required profile

• Registered nurse qualified under An Bord Altranais.
• Experience in pre‑assessment or surgical nursing environments.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to patient privacy, dignity and informed consent processes.
