Staff Software Engineer – Audio Software Technology

About the role

Join Qualcomm's global audio software team in Cork to design, develop, and integrate cutting‑edge audio and voice solutions for a wide range of smart devices. You will collaborate with hardware, systems, and software engineers and contribute to open‑source initiatives such as the AudioReach SDK.

Key responsibilities

• Develop embedded audio and voice software for smartphones, smart speakers, automotive, and IoT platforms.
• Design, implement, and debug Linux and Zephyr based drivers and middleware.
• Integrate audio frameworks (Pipewire, ALSA) and ensure performance and power efficiency on ARM SoCs.
• Participate in upstreaming, community engagement, and open‑source development.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to commercialize audio features.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s (2+ years), Master’s (1+ year) or PhD with 2+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong programming background in C, C++, Java or Python.
• 5+ years of embedded system development on ARM Linux or Zephyr.
• Experience with Linux kernel or Zephyr driver development and debugging.
• Solid understanding of audio bus interfaces (I2S, TDM, SoundWire) and mixed‑signal peripherals.
