Support Worker - 2027 Graduate Programme

About the role

Depaul is recruiting a Support Worker for its 2027 Graduate Programme in Dublin. The Support Worker joins a multi-disciplinary team using holistic approaches to support service users, working within a harm-reduction principle that gives residents a high degree of care, support and dignity. The role follows a 7-day week rota and runs for twelve months; by the end of the programme graduates will be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and report to the team.

Key responsibilities

• Encourage and support service users to develop skills in managing their daily living
• Help keep the service tidy, clean and hygienic, including communal areas, and encourage residents to take responsibility for maintaining their own environment
• Assist residents with personal monies and service charge payments where necessary, together with the project team
• Carry out project administration tasks such as petty cash upkeep, project statistics, invoices, record keeping, service user files, OTIS, IR and AR completion
• Ensure health and safety standards are met in line with Depaul's Health and Safety policy and the project's Safety Statement
• Attend and take part in team meetings, staff team days, key worker sessions with service users and ongoing graduate programme events
• Give an end-of-year presentation in Services

Required profile

• Qualification in Social Care, Psychology, Social Science, Criminology or Community Development
• Understanding of why people become homeless and what supports are available to service users with complex needs
• Good communicator and computer literate
• Knowledge of Depaul's vision, mission and values
• Ability to work shifts
• Relevant experience in the community and voluntary sector
• Driving licence desirable
