Team Lead – Mining Training

About the role

Newmont is seeking a Team Lead for People and Training at its Lihir gold mine in Papua New Guinea. You will oversee the design, delivery and continuous improvement of competency‑based training programs that keep the workforce safe, skilled and high‑performing.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate end‑to‑end mining training programs for operators and support staff.
• Lead and develop a team of trainers, ensuring consistency, quality and compliance across all activities.
• Maximise the use of mining simulators and other training tools.
• Work with operational leaders to assess capability gaps and plan targeted training solutions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date training materials, records and safety documentation.
• Monitor training effectiveness, analyse results and report outcomes to senior management.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading training teams in a mining or heavy‑industry environment.
• Strong understanding of competency‑based training methodologies and safety standards.
• Ability to assess workforce capability needs and develop practical training solutions.
• Excellent people‑leadership and communication skills.
