Trade Counter Sales Assistant (Retail)

About the role

The Trade Counter Sales Assistant will work on the shop floor of a leading DIY and home improvement retailer, providing product expertise and support to trade customers. You will act as the first point of contact for enquiries, quotations and collections, ensuring a smooth and professional experience.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with suppliers to obtain product information and pricing.
• Prepare and issue quotations for trade customers.
• Handle customer queries both over the phone and at the counter.
• Deliver excellent customer service and maintain high satisfaction levels.
• Use the in‑house IT software system for sales processing and record keeping.
• Manage customer collections and cash handling.
• Perform additional duties as required to meet business needs.

Required profile

• Good product knowledge of building materials and plumbing supplies.
• Maintain professional merchandising standards, including correct labelling, pricing and product placement.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Motivated, able to work independently and take initiative.
• Friendly and helpful attitude.
