Training and Development Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Training and Development Specialist to design, deliver and continuously improve training programmes for our administrative team at the Institute of Eye Surgery. The role combines hands‑on coaching, oversight of daily operations and performance support to raise skill levels, standardise processes and enhance patient‑focused service across our network.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver onboarding and induction programmes that set new hires up for long‑term success.
• Manage the probation process, providing clear expectations, regular feedback and timely reviews.
• Provide one‑to‑one coaching and mentorship to build capability and address performance challenges.
• Maintain accurate training records, competency tracking and ensure compliance.
• Identify training needs or performance gaps and deliver solutions that drive measurable improvement.
• Support workflow improvements, KPI tracking and the development of SOPs and training resources.
• Deputise for the Administrative Operations Lead and represent the team in weekly management meetings when required.
• Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar training or development role.
• Proven experience designing, delivering and evaluating training programmes with measurable outcomes.
• Strong understanding of administrative processes, scheduling systems and workflow coordination.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database management.
• Experience implementing or managing a Learning Management System (LMS).
