Transport Coordinator

About the role

JJ Kavanagh, a family-run transport company with over 100 years of heritage, is expanding its Transport Operations team and is looking for a Transport Coordinator. You will work closely with the Transport Manager and the Transport Operations team to support regular scheduled services, private coach hires and tours, helping deliver the best customer experience. The role is permanent and full-time, based in Dublin and the South East region.

Key responsibilities

• Roster drivers for service work and private hires, in line with current laws, regulations and company policies.
• Monitor transport systems in real time so that scheduled services and private hire jobs run as planned, and take corrective action when needed.
• Allocate company vehicles to drivers and jobs when and where required.
• Move vehicles between depots so that scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance is completed within the right timeframe.
• Act as the first point of contact for drivers needing guidance, and facilitate communication between the Transport Operations Office and the drivers.
• Respond proactively to changing situations and solve problems that arise.

Required profile

• Organised and focused, with a proven ability to meet multiple deadlines.
• Attention to detail and strong IT capability.
• Able to direct and develop teams and individuals to meet tight deadlines and KPIs.
• Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-changing environment and able to work under pressure with a practical problem-solving approach.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and good relationships with drivers and management.
• Suitable experience in planning in the road transport industry is an advantage; full on-the-job training is provided.
