VAT Manager – Senior Indirect Tax & ESG Specialist

About the role

Our client, a leading international retail brand, is building a Tax Centre of Excellence to support global growth and navigate fast‑changing digital and international tax legislation. Reporting to the Head of Tax, the VAT Manager will act as a trusted advisor on indirect tax, ESG reporting and tax automation across the group.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the full indirect tax compliance lifecycle, ensuring accurate filings, reporting and payments worldwide.
• Serve as the subject‑matter expert on critical projects, including new regulatory and e‑legislation implementations.
• Manage tax‑related ESG reporting and payment obligations in partnership with sustainability teams.
• Monitor international legislative changes and online sales thresholds to assess registration and VAT treatment requirements.
• Translate legislative updates into clear system or process requirements for IT and data teams.
• Develop and maintain tax data governance procedures and leadership metrics to add strategic value.
• Support VAT/GST registrations, certifications and audit readiness across jurisdictions.

Required profile

• Fully qualified AITI / CTA or equivalent professional tax/accounting qualification.
• 7+ years of dedicated indirect tax compliance and advisory experience.
• Proven project‑management experience delivering system changes or process updates.
• Strong knowledge of international VAT/GST legislation and ESG tax reporting.
• Ability to work collaboratively with finance, legal, technology and sustainability teams.
