Advanced Specialist Pharmacist – Medicines Optimisation

About the role

The Advanced Specialist Pharmacist will lead medicines optimisation across a range of clinical specialties within Beaumont Hospital and its affiliated sites. Working as part of multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure safe, effective and cost‑effective use of medicines for diverse patient groups.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical input on medication dosing, drug selection, monitoring and use of unlicensed or off‑label medicines.
• Lead and support antibiotic stewardship, HIV/AIDS, cardiology, intensive care, transplantation and other specialist services.
• Deliver medicines information, aseptic compounding, medication safety and clinical informatics support.
• Advise pharmacists and other health‑care professionals, mentor staff and drive change in practice.
• Contribute to education, training and research activities within the pharmacy department.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with extensive experience in hospital pharmacy.
• Demonstrated expertise in at least one specialist area (e.g., oncology, infectious diseases, critical care).
• Strong leadership and communication skills, able to influence multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence‑based practice.
