Experienced Gas Mainlayer – Waterford/Tipperary/Wexford

About the role

GMC is seeking an experienced Gas Mainlayer to join its collaborative team, working on projects across the Waterford, Tipperary and Wexford regions. You will contribute to safe, efficient gas infrastructure installation while developing your career in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform excavation work and prepare sites for gas services.
• Lay gas services and mains up to 400 mm in accordance with the OPM.
• Execute non‑routine operations (NROs) and adhere to site‑specific safety procedures.
• Manage workload, complete tasks using handheld devices, and fulfil on‑call duties.
• Maintain compliance with GMC policies, GNI standards, and audit requirements.
• Conduct weekly plant and vehicle inspections and complete related documentation.

Required profile

• GDF2 qualification or equivalent with successful GNI assessments.
• Valid Location of Underground Services Ticket and 3‑day SLG ticket.
• Full clean driving licence (EC1 desirable).
• Minimum three years’ experience as a Gas Mainlayer, Utility Mainlayer or similar civil utilities role.
• Completed excavation & shoring and GNI leak management courses.
• Ability to identify risks and perform daily site‑specific risk assessments.
