Financial Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join a well‑established organisation in Longford. The role is central to the Finance Department, delivering accurate monthly accounts, supporting budgeting and audit activities, and providing commercial insight to drive business performance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit & loss and balance sheet statements.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
• Analyse financial and operational performance variances.
• Manage accounts receivable, debt control and cash‑flow monitoring, including bank reconciliations.
• Assist with the preparation of sales and capital budgets and maintain asset registers.
• Support inventory reviews and analyse stock variances.
• Prepare VAT returns and coordinate grant applications.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit standards.

Required profile

• Qualified or part‑qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).
• Background in financial accounting and month‑end reporting.
• Experience with budgeting, reconciliations and financial analysis.
• Familiarity with VAT and audit preparation.
• Strong organisational ability and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in a manufacturing or operational finance environment is a plus.
