Group Financial Controller – 6‑month contract (potential permanent)

About the role
The Group Financial Controller will lead the finance function across seven charitable entities, delivering accurate consolidated reporting and robust internal controls. Reporting to the CFO, you will ensure compliance with Charity SORP, statutory requirements and funder obligations while providing insight to support strategic decisions. This is a six‑month fixed‑term role based in Dublin with a strong prospect of becoming permanent.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare timely monthly management accounts for each entity and the consolidated group.
- Lead the annual statutory accounts, audit process and liaison with external auditors.
- Ensure full compliance with Charity SORP, Companies Act and related regulations.
- Produce board‑ready finance reports, variance analysis and KPI dashboards.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls across all entities, including fund accounting, inter‑company eliminations and transfer pricing.
- Oversee VAT, Gift Aid and other tax compliance matters specific to the charity sector.
- Manage, mentor and develop a team of eight finance professionals, setting objectives and conducting performance reviews.
- Act as a trusted finance partner to entity leads, translating numbers into actionable insight and supporting budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning.
- Drive improvements in financial systems, processes and automation, and contribute to ad‑hoc projects such as new entity setups or restructures.
Required profile
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Proven experience in multi‑entity consolidation and group reporting.
- Strong knowledge of Charity SORP and not‑for‑profit accounting.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non‑finance stakeholders.
- Collaborative leadership style with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement.
