Health Care Assistant – Woodlands House Nursing Home

About the role

The Health Care Assistant (HCA) is a vital member of the multidisciplinary team at Woodlands House Nursing Home. Working 36 hours per week, the HCA provides personal care that supports residents' independence, wellbeing, and dignity.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake hygiene and dress care for residents.
• Safe manual handling and transfer of residents within the home.
• Deliver meals and assist with feeding.
• Return used trays and dishes to the kitchen, keeping rooms tidy.
• Make beds and change linen.
• Provide incontinence and toilet care, including emptying commodes and changing catheter bags.
• Assist trained nurses with psychological and social support as needed.
• Maintain continuous vigilance over residents' dignity, comfort, safety, and whereabouts.
• Adhere to hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
• Perform any other duties as required.

Required profile

• Willingness to work 36 hours per week on-site.
• Desirable experience in elder care.
• Desirable completion of QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support.
