IT Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our Limerick team. The role will support a hybrid environment that spans on‑premise sites and Microsoft Azure cloud services, ensuring reliable, secure and high‑performing infrastructure for our distributed operations.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain on‑site hardware including routers, switches, firewalls and servers.
• Set up and manage site connectivity, wireless networks and end‑user equipment for new project locations.
• Deploy, monitor and optimise Azure resources such as Virtual Machines, networking, storage and VPN connectivity.
• Support hybrid scenarios linking on‑premise infrastructure to Azure, including ExpressRoute and VPN solutions.
• Troubleshoot network and connectivity issues across multiple sites and work with ISPs to maintain uptime.
• Perform patching, upgrades, lifecycle management and monitor system performance, availability and security.
• Implement security best practices, assist with compliance, backup, restore and disaster‑recovery processes.
• Maintain accurate asset inventory, technical documentation and reporting on system health.
• Collaborate with internal IT teams, project managers, site personnel and external vendors to resolve issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience with on‑premise infrastructure and Microsoft Azure in a hybrid environment.
• Strong networking knowledge (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs).
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software and connectivity problems.
• Good documentation and communication skills to work with cross‑functional teams.
