Laboratory Manager

About the role

We are seeking a strategic Laboratory Manager to lead a high‑performing microbiology and molecular science laboratory. In this role you will shape scientific direction, drive innovation, and ensure the highest standards of service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage day‑to‑day operations of a microbiology laboratory, overseeing service quality and efficiency.
• Provide expert technical guidance on microbiology and molecular analysis, including method development and validation.
• Oversee validation, troubleshooting, and quality‑assurance activities for all laboratory processes and instruments.
• Assess emerging technologies and implement new platforms and digital tools to modernise the lab.
• Manage multiple projects, allocate resources effectively, and meet deadlines.
• Represent the organisation at scientific conferences and industry events.
• Collaborate on business‑development initiatives and contribute to strategic growth plans.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Microbiology or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in a commercial laboratory environment.
• Strong leadership and team‑management capabilities.
• Proven ability to manage change, resolve conflicts and deliver results under pressure.
• Familiarity with market analysis and business‑development activities.
