Lecturer – Education Focused – Science Skills

About the role

The University of New South Wales is seeking a Level B Lecturer to join its School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences. This full‑time, fixed‑term position (until 31 December 2026) focuses on delivering high‑quality, interdisciplinary science teaching, particularly the SCIF1000 Level 1 Capstone and SCIF1001 Level 1 Research Skills courses.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and continuously refine a teaching philosophy that inspires student learning.
• Conduct lectures, tutorials and assessments for undergraduate and postgraduate science courses.
• Design learning activities, resources and assessment tools using diverse pedagogical approaches.
• Provide one‑to‑one consultation and guidance to support individual student progression.
• Contribute to curriculum development and educational initiatives within the school.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to teach interdisciplinary, skills‑focused science subjects.
• Experience in guiding students through scientific inquiry, hypothesis development and experimental design.
• Commitment to fostering inclusive and collaborative learning environments.
• Alignment with UNSW policies and standards for teaching and assessment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of scientific inquiry principles and research methodologies.
• Understanding of interdisciplinary approaches to real‑world scientific challenges.
