Locum Consultant Paediatrician – Neurodisability Specialist

About the role

This locum consultant position supports the Paediatric Neurodisability service across Childrens Health Ireland and The Rotunda. The role provides specialist inpatient and outpatient care for children with neurodisability and acts as a senior point of contact for infants with neurodevelopmental concerns.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality clinical care to children with neurodisability in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Support general paediatrics within Childrens Health Ireland and provide specialist input to the Rotunda Fetal Medicine service.
• Collaborate with sub‑specialty consultants and multidisciplinary teams across five sites to optimise patient outcomes.
• Lead the development of the cross‑city Department of Paediatric Neurodisability, driving continuous quality improvement and improving patient access.
• Counsel families of fetuses with neurodevelopmental concerns and engage with the Developmental MDT.

Required profile

• Registration as a specialist paediatrician on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners (Medical Council of Ireland) within 180 days of interview.
• Two years of certified postgraduate training in paediatric neurodisability or a strong interest with a commitment to develop expertise.
• Ongoing registration with the Medical Council of Ireland throughout the appointment.
