Maintenance Technician

About the role

Our client, a leading food manufacturer in Ireland, is expanding its maintenance team in Westmeath. The Maintenance Technician will support plant operations by handling both electrical and mechanical tasks, ensuring reliable production across rotating shift patterns.

Key responsibilities

• Routine checking and monitoring of plant and equipment to ensure optimum performance and contractual compliance.
• Calibration and testing of equipment, alarms, and instrumentation according to CMMS and vendor recommendations.
• Perform planned mechanical and electrical maintenance and record activities in the CMMS.
• Respond promptly to equipment failures, carry out repairs or replacements, and document actions.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, process, and electrical issues using good engineering principles.
• Manage spares inventory to maintain plant reliability.
• Own permit‑to‑work systems, including LOTO and hot‑work permits.
• Utilise remote monitoring tools such as BMS to verify plant condition and suggest improvements.

Required profile

• Mechanical/Electrical qualification – minimum Level 6 certificate.
• Experience in a facility maintenance environment, preferably in high‑volume manufacturing.
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic/pneumatic drawings.
• Knowledge of maintenance best practices and safety regulations.
