Mechanical Engineer – Building Service Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to act as a Building Service Engineer for a major client in Dublin. The role is hybrid, based at Central Park, and offers a 1‑year fixed‑term contract with the possibility of extension. You will provide independent M&E cost advice, support reactive maintenance, and ensure technical compliance across a range of building services projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide independent M&E cost advice on repair and reactive works, ensuring value for money.
• Assist the client’s maintenance team in managing reactive work orders from receipt to completion.
• Design and coordinate construction documentation, specifying mechanical and electrical equipment with regional vendors.
• Manage life‑safety investment proposals and act as the primary contact for the Engineering Services team.
• Analyse reactive work‑order data to generate actionable insights.
• Monitor project programmes, track progress, and approve equipment submittals.
• Oversee on‑site installation, ensuring quality, health & safety, and technical compliance.
• Develop and map service‑delivery processes, and support legislative GAP analysis for fire safety, emergency lighting, asbestos, and chemicals registers.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Level 7) with at least 5 years post‑qualification experience.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status (desirable).
• Strong knowledge of European and Irish building codes and standards.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality documentation.
• Proven leadership, problem‑solving, and stakeholder‑management abilities.
