Building Inspector

About the role

AECOM is looking for a motivated, detail‑oriented Building Inspector to join its Assigned Certifier team in Ireland. The role involves inspecting a variety of commercial, residential, industrial and infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with Irish Building Regulations, health & safety standards and project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out site inspections of structural, mechanical and electrical installations at all construction stages.
• Verify that works comply with Irish Building Regulations, project specifications and industry standards.
• Review drawings, technical documentation and contractor submissions for accuracy and quality.
• Prepare comprehensive inspection reports and keep project records up to date.
• Identify defects, non‑conformances and health‑safety issues, recommending corrective actions.
• Liaise with contractors, consultants, local authorities and other stakeholders.
• Monitor construction quality, workmanship and material standards across sites.
• Support the Assigned Certifier team with engineering expertise.

Required profile

• Degree in Building Services Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Strong site experience in construction quality assurance, inspections and building compliance within the Irish construction sector.
• Good knowledge of Irish Building Regulations and health & safety requirements.
• Motivated, detail‑oriented and able to work independently on multiple sites.
