Mechanical Engineer – Dublin or Cork

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Dublin office, with the possibility of working from Cork. The role involves delivering mechanical engineering services for data centres, mission‑critical facilities and other specialised building types such as pharmaceutical, healthcare, labs and clean rooms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead small‑scale projects from concept through to completion.
• Research, develop and design mechanical systems, equipment and installations.
• Prepare and review specifications, calculations and drawings to meet industry and legal standards.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams during technical meetings.
• Validate work of intermediate and graduate engineers.
• Support project delivery in line with RED’s Project Delivery Process, covering project management, financial, QA/QC and technical review aspects.

Required profile

• HND or university degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Working towards or achieved MCIBSE/MIEE or equivalent; chartered engineer status desirable.
• Experience in specification design/drawing for at least one building type.
• Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and BS standards.
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel).
• Use of IT‑based calculation and spreadsheet software.
• Understanding of BS (British Standards) for mechanical design.
