Post Primary Teacher – English as an Additional Language (EAL)

About the role

The Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board is seeking a qualified Post Primary Teacher to deliver English as an Additional Language (EAL) instruction at Bunclody Community College in County Wexford. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of educators and support the linguistic development of secondary‑level students whose first language is not English.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess EAL lessons in accordance with the national curriculum and the Teaching Council’s Code of Professional Conduct.
• Provide targeted language support to students, helping them improve reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
• Collaborate with subject teachers to integrate language objectives across the curriculum.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and produce regular reports for parents and school management.
• Participate in professional development activities and contribute to the school’s language policy initiatives.

Required profile

• Relevant teaching qualification and registration with the Teaching Council of Ireland.
• Experience teaching English as an Additional Language at post‑primary level is desirable.
• Strong understanding of language acquisition principles and inclusive classroom practices.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to professional standards.
