Senior Engineer – Preconstruction (Hybrid)

About the role

A well‑established main contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join its head office in Galway (or Roscommon) on a permanent, hybrid basis. The role focuses on pre‑construction activities, bridging the gap between design and on‑site delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Support the transition of projects from pre‑construction to operational delivery.
• Coordinate all project set‑up activities before site mobilisation.
• Review drawings, specifications, programmes and technical documentation to ensure readiness.
• Conduct buildability reviews and flag potential construction or coordination issues early.
• Collaborate with design, commercial, planning, procurement and operations teams to develop execution strategies, logistics plans and sequencing.
• Gather subcontractor and supplier information required for mobilisation.
• Prepare construction methodologies and technical submissions.
• Ensure all project documentation, approvals and information are in place before hand‑over to site teams.
• Liaise with site management to guarantee a smooth project launch.
• Participate in internal project review meetings and planning workshops.
• Drive best practice and continuous improvement across delivery processes.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 + years post‑graduate experience as a senior engineer on large‑scale building projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methodology, sequencing and logistics.
• Proven ability to work closely with site management and subcontractors.
• Excellent communication, organisational and commercial awareness.
