Senior Platform Engineer - Linux

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer specializing in Linux to join its Ireland team. The role focuses on supporting and enhancing Mastercard’s Linux‑based platforms, ensuring high availability and performance for digital payment services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day support and maintenance for Oracle Linux operating systems and VMware infrastructure.
• Produce status reports, implement system changes, and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Utilize configuration management and infrastructure‑as‑code tools to automate repeatable tasks.
• Design, build, and validate automated OS build processes.
• Assist internal users and peer architects with operating system and hardware problems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in systems administration.
• Strong understanding of operating systems, infrastructure software, and computer hardware.
• Familiarity with incident management and problem‑resolution procedures.
• Basic knowledge of project management principles is a plus.
