Senior Research Fellow (Indigenous Targeted)

About the role

The Division of Societal Impact, Equity and Engagement at UNSW is seeking an experienced Senior Research Fellow to lead quantitative research within the Yuwaya Ngarra‑li partnership with the Dharriwaa Elders Group. The role focuses on community‑led research that supports systemic change for Aboriginal children and young people in Walgett and beyond.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the Walgett Children and Young People Linked Administrative Dataset.
• Lead the design, analysis and reporting of studies linking education, health and criminal justice outcomes.
• Produce high‑quality publications and contribute original evidence to inform policy and practice.
• Provide expert advice on data linkage and quantitative analysis to the research team and community partners.
• Collaborate closely with the Dharriwaa Elders Group and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in quantitative research and linked administrative data analysis.
• Strong track record of independent, community‑focused research, preferably in Indigenous contexts.
• Ability to work collaboratively with academic and community partners.
• Willingness to engage with Indigenous data governance principles.
• Potential to take on supervisory responsibilities in the future.
