Senior Strategic Project Manager – Healthcare

About the role

The National Treatment Purchase Fund is seeking a Senior Strategic Project Manager to lead critical initiatives that improve the delivery of public hospital and nursing home services. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the role bridges executive leadership, operational teams and external partners to ensure projects align with the organisation’s strategy and annual service plans.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement structured project management processes to optimise resource use and meet defined timelines.
• Define clear goals, milestones and checkpoints, and hold teams accountable for deliverables to minimise delays and budget overruns.
• Act as the primary liaison with government bodies, healthcare providers and the public, ensuring transparent communication and integration of stakeholder input.
• Develop and execute risk‑management strategies, anticipate issues, and prepare contingency plans to sustain project continuity.
• Collaborate closely with the Chief Executive and senior leadership to align all projects with the organisation’s strategic objectives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience managing complex projects in the public‑sector or healthcare environment.
• Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Strong stakeholder‑engagement and communication skills.
• Strategic thinking with the ability to translate organisational goals into actionable plans.
• Ability to work under pressure and navigate a highly regulated environment.
