Software Engineer – Cloud‑Native Platform

About the role

Cisco's Common Platform Services (CCPS) team is building a modern, secure SaaS platform. As a Software Engineer you will create scalable cloud‑native applications and services that power our Kubernetes‑based ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement foundational capabilities for the cloud‑native stack, focusing on Kubernetes layers and underlying infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain automation and tooling for Kubernetes cluster lifecycle, configuration, and upgrades.
• Create platform components for networking, storage, security, and resource management.
• Collaborate with SRE, security, networking, and application teams to deliver robust, scalable capabilities.
• Leverage AI‑assisted engineering tools to boost productivity, code quality, and troubleshooting efficiency.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, incident response, and post‑incident reviews to ensure platform reliability.

Required profile

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years (BS) or 2+ years (MS) of software development or cloud/platform engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Go (Golang) or Python.
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes and cloud‑native technologies.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) and at least one major public cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted engineering tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for distributed teams.
