Software Engineer (SRE) – AI Platform

About the role

Join Dell Technologies' Unstructured Data Storage (UDS) team in Cork to develop enterprise‑grade, massively scalable storage solutions for the AI platform. As a Software Engineer (SRE) you will contribute to both PowerScale and ObjectScale products, working on cutting‑edge technologies in a fast‑paced, scrum‑based environment.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle: planning, design, implementation, testing, deployment and maintenance.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects and fellow engineers to define and deliver technical solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the stack, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Contribute to performance engineering and site reliability initiatives.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of solid programming experience, preferably in C, C++, Java or Python.
• Strong analytical, debugging and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills within a global Agile/Scrum environment.
• Experience or interest in performance engineering, SRE, filesystem or distributed systems.

Required skills

• Knowledge of storage protocols such as NFS, SMB, S3
• Understanding of networking, kernel/file‑system queues and caching mechanisms
• Familiarity with ML/AI techniques for anomaly detection, pattern matching and agent orchestration
