Staff Nurse – Cardiothoracic High Dependency Unit

About the role

The Staff Nurse will join a highly skilled nursing team delivering top‑class care on the Cardiothoracic High Dependency Unit (CTHDU) at Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. You will support patients before and after major cardiac and thoracic procedures, ensuring safety and optimal recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, deliver and evaluate patient care using recognised, validated tools.
• Provide nursing care for pre‑ and post‑operative patients, including heart/lung transplants and complex cardiac surgeries such as bypass grafting, aortic and mitral valve procedures.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to coordinate treatment plans.
• Participate in staff development activities facilitated by the unit’s education lead.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with experience in high‑dependency or critical‑care settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work safely with high‑risk cardiothoracic patients.
• Strong communication skills for multidisciplinary collaboration.
