Staff Nurse

About the role

Avista is a person‑centred, rights‑based organisation supporting children and adults with disabilities across Ireland. The Staff Nurse will provide high‑quality nursing care to individuals with intellectual disabilities in community‑based settings in Limerick, promoting health, wellbeing and independence.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments and develop individualised care plans.
• Administer medication and monitor health status in line with best practice.
• Support health promotion, hygiene and daily living activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families and external agencies.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide training and guidance to support staff and carers.

Required profile

• Current NMBI registration.
• Full clean Irish manual driving licence.
• Proficiency in English.
• Desirable: RNID (Intellectual Disability Nurse) registration.
• Knowledge of person‑centred planning and commitment to a holistic approach.
• Alignment with Avista’s core values and competency framework.
