API Engineering Manager

About the role

We are seeking an API Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team within a leading pharmaceutical API manufacturing site. The role combines day‑to‑day engineering support with long‑term improvement projects, ensuring safe and efficient operation of the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop engineers, technicians and apprentices in the API business unit.
• Coordinate equipment performance monitoring, maintenance contracts and upgrades.
• Collaborate with production, quality and technical operations to drive continuous improvement.
• Manage budgets, audit readiness and compliance with all safety and regulatory policies.
• Deliver equipment upgrades and process optimisation projects.

Required profile

• Degree (Level 7 or above) in Engineering or Chemistry.
• Minimum six years of pharmaceutical industry experience, including at least two years in an engineering supervisory role.
• Experience in an API manufacturing environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of glass‑lined vessels, reactors, pumps and heat exchangers.
• Familiarity with ATEX requirements and solvent handling.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making abilities with high attention to detail.
