Head Chef – Mining Camp

About the role

The Head Chef will lead the day‑to‑day operations of the Simberi mining camp kitchen, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, nutritious meals to all camp personnel. This permanent, full‑time role requires strict adherence to food safety, hygiene and company standards while working on a 15/13 roster in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the running of the camp kitchen and catering facilities.
• Supervise, train and mentor national and local kitchen staff, ensuring proper hygiene, food separation and use of PPE.
• Develop and maintain monthly rotating menus that include healthy food choices.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining, recreation areas and ensure all equipment (refrigeration, air‑conditioning) is inspected, cleaned and functional.
• Manage waste disposal in accordance with environmental standards.
• Coordinate stock ordering, usage and rotation in collaboration with the Camp Superintendent.
• Ensure timely maintenance of camp utilities (power, water) related to kitchen operations.
• Uphold company policies, values and compliance obligations.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a chef in large‑scale or remote catering environments.
• Ability to lead and motivate a multicultural team.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.
• Willingness to work the 15/13 roster and live on‑site.
