Patent Paralegal

About the role

Dolby is seeking a Patent Paralegal to support its European patent group. Based in Dublin, the role combines legal administration with hands‑on patent filing, ensuring the company’s innovations are protected across Europe and internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Review patent correspondence and extract relevant information.
• Initiate filing of EP and PCT applications, preparing complex legal documents and meeting all filing requirements.
• Handle formal requirements, including preparation and filing of subsequent documents with the European Patent Office (EPO).
• Maintain prosecution records, track case status, prepare responses and manage communications.
• Support special projects related to the worldwide patent portfolio.
• Collaborate with internal patent attorneys, agents, and external law firms, sharing knowledge of foreign patent rules.
• Update policies and procedures, ensure compliance with patent handling procedures, and provide backup to other paralegals.
• Prepare reports, presentations and attend occasional evening meetings to coordinate across time zones.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in a similar patent paralegal or IP prosecution role.
• CIPA IP Paralegal qualification highly desirable.
• Proven experience with European Patent Office applications and related tools.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a global team.
