HFO Electrician

About the role

The HFO Electrician will join the Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) Power Plant team at Simberi Gold's open‑cut mine in Papua New Guinea. Working a 15/13 roster, you will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting all electrical equipment that powers the mine and processing plant.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures using hand and power tools.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components with test equipment.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components.
• Inspect electrical systems for hazards, defects, and compliance with codes.
• Test continuity of circuits using ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and other devices.
• Perform effective troubleshooting to identify and correct hazards or malfunctions.
• Interpret parts manuals and operating procedures, following safe work practices.
• Manage time and resources to support the Power Plant crew.
