Accounting Manager

About the role

EllisDon is seeking an Accounting Manager to provide financial support to its Operations Managers across construction projects. The role will drive budgeting, forecasting, cost management and performance analysis, ensuring projects remain financially sound and aligned with corporate objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Operations Managers with budgeting, forecasting, cost control and financial performance analysis.
• Lead Internal Project Reviews to identify financial risks, opportunities and corrective actions.
• Prepare and process project billings, accounts receivable, cash receipts, bank reconciliations and accounts payable.
• Monitor project profitability, cash flow and overall financial performance, delivering regular reports and recommendations.
• Support the development of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and long‑term financial plans.
• Review monthly management accounts and variance analyses, investigating significant deviations.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, corporate policies, tax requirements and statutory obligations.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes, including audit preparation and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Develop and improve financial reporting processes, controls and procedures.
• Prepare management reports and present financial information to senior leadership.
• Research and respond to financial queries from internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
• Detail‑oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Knowledge of construction industry financial practices is an advantage.
