Advanced Nurse Practitioner – Cardiothoracic Surgery & Heart/Lung Transplant Retrieval

About the role

This position supports the development of a specialised Advanced Nurse Practitioner role within cardiothoracic surgery and heart/lung transplant retrieval. Working under the Health Care Provider’s Advanced Practice Stakeholder Governance Group, the successful candidate will help create the documentation required for NMBI registration.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the job description and supporting documentation for the Advanced Nurse Practitioner role.
• Collaborate with the Advanced Practice Stakeholder Governance Group to ensure alignment with NMBI standards.
• Facilitate the individual nurse’s academic preparation and competency development.
• Guide the incremental development of clinical and leadership expertise.
• Ensure the role’s scope reflects a non‑autonomous practice until registration criteria are met.

Required profile

• Registered nurse with interest in advanced practice.
• Willingness to undertake academic preparation for RANP registration.
• Ability to work within a governance framework and follow regulatory guidelines.
• Commitment to developing clinical and leadership competencies in cardiothoracic surgery and transplant retrieval.
