Assistant Professor in Medical Education

About the role

The School of Medicine at Trinity College seeks an Assistant Professor in Medical Education to lead the development of high‑quality clinical learning experiences for undergraduate and internship students. The postholder will shape workplace‑based learning, align it with university policy and Irish Medical Council standards, and support curriculum reform across partner healthcare sites.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver, evaluate and enhance workplace‑based learning across the undergraduate and internship continuum.
• Lead curriculum review with emphasis on clinical placements, longitudinal integrated clerkships, and transition to postgraduate training.
• Develop and sustain networks of clinical educators across affiliated hospitals and healthcare sites.
• Provide leadership for initiatives that support clinical supervisors, tutors, and teaching hospitals.
• Contribute to educational research, scholarship, and faculty development activities.

Required profile

• Established or emerging reputation in teaching, faculty development, and educational scholarship.
• Experience in clinical education and curriculum design within a medical school setting.
• Track record of scholarly publications and research in medical education.
• Ability to work collaboratively with clinical partners and academic colleagues.
