Backend Software Engineer – Remote in Ireland

About the role

We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join a fast‑moving SaaS team that powers a modern compensation platform used across Europe. Based in Ireland and working remotely, you will own the design and delivery of reliable, scalable services that enable benefits, payments, and flexible compensation experiences for businesses and employees.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance backend services and APIs.
• Implement robust database solutions and architectural improvements for scalability and maintainability.
• Ensure production readiness through testing, monitoring, observability, and resilience practices.
• Own features end‑to‑end, from discovery and design through deployment and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to solve customer problems.
• Contribute technical expertise during product discovery and help shape roadmap decisions.
• Apply AI‑assisted development techniques to boost productivity.

Required profile

• Strong fundamentals in backend engineering and experience building production systems.
• Product‑mindset with the ability to balance technical decisions and business impact.
• Proven track record of delivering scalable applications in a collaborative environment.
