Band 5 Paediatric Staff Nurse (Part‑time)

About the role

The Highland Children’s Unit at Raigmore Hospital is seeking a qualified Band 5 Paediatric Staff Nurse on a part‑time permanent basis. Working 19 hours per week, including weekends and nights, you will join a multidisciplinary team delivering comprehensive paediatric care across inpatient, day‑case, HDU, assessment and outpatient services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality nursing care to children and young people across all specialties.
• Administer medications, treatments and procedures in line with clinical guidelines.
• Collaborate with doctors, allied health professionals and support staff to plan and evaluate patient care.
• Document patient observations, assessments and interventions accurately.
• Participate in the unit’s on‑call rota, covering evenings and nights as required.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Qualified and experienced in paediatric nursing (Band 5 level).
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive practice.

Required skills

• Proficiency in paediatric clinical assessment and monitoring.
• Competence in administering paediatric medications and therapies.
• Ability to use hospital information systems for patient documentation.
