Capacity Design Engineer – NCD

About the role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Capacity Design Engineer to join its Data Center Technical Services (DCTS) and Engineering team. You will help design, plan, and deliver scalable fiber‑optic and copper infrastructure that powers AWS data centers and edge sites, ensuring high capacity, safety, and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver timely, scalable designs for fiber‑optic and copper plant infrastructure.
• Develop automated solutions for routing and utilization of the physical layer.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet capacity, network, and turn‑up timelines.
• Identify and mitigate high‑priority risks quickly.
• Support New Product Introduction activities to improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost, and shorten installation time.
• Travel up to 20% to review projects and coordinate with on‑site personnel and contractors at AWS data centers.

Required profile

• Strong engineering background with experience in data‑center or network infrastructure design.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with software, hardware, network, and supply‑chain teams.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to respond rapidly to issues.
• Willingness to travel and work on‑site at data‑center locations.
