Catering Assistant

About the role

Nua Healthcare Services, Ireland's leading private residential care provider for people with intellectual disabilities and mental health issues, is looking for a Catering Assistant. The successful candidate will receive all necessary training and development for the role. Working hours follow a 7-day roster involving shift work.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, plate and serve food and patient meals in line with national and local policies and standards
• Follow HACCP guidelines at all times
• Collect cutlery, crockery and glassware from patient areas when directed
• Work as part of the multidisciplinary team, providing portering and general operative support to patients, goods and services
• Carry out delegated tasks involving direct care and activities of daily living under supervision
• Report equipment faults and ensure equipment is stored correctly
• Comply with the Health Act 2007, the Mental Health Acts, the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and company policies, and respect the confidentiality of service users' information

Required profile

• 1 year of previous experience in a similar role
• Ability to empathise with and understand the needs of others
• Excellent organisational skills, self-motivated and reliable
• Dedicated, flexible approach to work and willingness to learn

• IT skills
• Willingness to work as part of a multi-departmental team
