About the role
The Chief Fire Officer leads the management team of Dublin City Council's Fire and Emergency Services (FES). This senior position is responsible for the delivery of fire, rescue, emergency ambulance and fire‑prevention services across the city, ensuring the highest standards of safety and response.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop the FES management team to achieve strategic objectives.
- Oversee fire, rescue, ambulance and fire‑prevention operations, ensuring rapid and effective emergency response.
- Maintain and enforce fire safety standards and regulations throughout the city.
- Plan, implement and manage change initiatives to improve service delivery.
- Make strategic decisions on resource allocation, budgeting and operational priorities.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety and public accountability.
Required profile
- Extensive senior leadership experience in fire, rescue or related emergency services.
- Proven ability to manage large, complex public‑sector organisations.
- Strong strategic planning, organisational and decision‑making capabilities.
