Clinical Nurse Specialist – Oral Anti‑Cancer Medication Clinic (Oncology)

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) works within the Oral Anti‑Cancer Medication (OAMS) clinic, providing specialist nursing care to patients receiving oral anti‑cancer therapies. The role involves reviewing patients, monitoring treatment safety, and coordinating multidisciplinary support.

Key responsibilities

• Review approximately 35 patients on oral anti‑cancer medications each week.
• Conduct SACT nursing assessments, record weight, vital signs, and medication histories.
• Liaise with community pharmacies to ensure accurate medication dispensing.
• Provide patient information leaflets and triage details, and maintain a dedicated phone line for patient queries.
• Arrange referrals to dietetics, social work, palliative care, psycho‑oncology and other services after discussion with patients.
• Follow up patients according to drug monitoring protocols.
• Attend weekly consultant rounds to discuss patient care and drug toxicities.

Required profile

• Qualified Clinical Nurse Specialist with experience in oncology.
• Familiarity with oral anti‑cancer medication management and monitoring.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and community pharmacies.
• Strong communication skills for patient education and referral coordination.
