CLOAS Developer (6-month contract)

About the role

The client, a financial services organisation, is looking for an experienced CLOAS Developer to join their IT team on an initial six‑month contract. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing and maintaining CLOAS‑based applications that support core business processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain CLOAS applications in line with business and technical requirements.
• Work across CLOAS administration systems, including screen development, browser functionality, batch processes and job scheduling.
• Support application development and integration across legacy and modern technology platforms.
• Analyse technical requirements and deliver secure, maintainable software solutions.
• Develop and maintain code using COBOL.NET, C#, Java, SQL Server, DB2, JCL and CICS as required.
• Support data extraction, reporting, ETL and integration activities, including data movement to downstream systems.
• Collaborate with business analysts, testers, architects, infrastructure teams and third‑party vendors.
• Provide production support, troubleshooting and defect resolution for CLOAS and related applications.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 + years of software development experience, including 2‑5 years of hands‑on CLOAS work.
• Strong experience with CLOAS administration in life assurance, pensions, insurance or broader financial services.
• Proven experience with batch processing, job scheduling and application support in business‑critical environments.
• Solid background in legacy and/or modern platforms and database technologies such as SQL Server or DB2.
• Ability to investigate system issues, identify root causes and deliver high‑quality technical fixes.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with technical teams and business stakeholders.
